Have you heard about or experienced pelvic pain, leaking when you sneeze or cough, painful periods or pain during your pregnancy? Have you recently had a baby and are wondering about safe ways to exercise appropriately while giving your body the best opportunity to regain strength and function? have you heard the word “pelvic floor exercises” or “kegels” out there but really not sure of what this means or how to do them? The good news is that you are not alone and many women all over the world can relate to these words and experiences. Many of these women may be aware of the help that pelvic health physiotherapy can offer, or perhaps this is a first for you?!
Pelvic health issues can affect women, men and children, and are often accepted as a part of life that we just have to put up with. These issues can be disabling physically, emotionally, psychologically and socially, and Bev believes in helping clients along in their journey to health and wellbeing, working from a biopsychosocial model to achieve the optimal outcome for each individual. Research has shown that many of these conditions can be improved and often resolved with specific, individualised Physiotherapy assessment and treatment.
Bev Hampton works in the specialised area of pelvic health physiotherapy and is based in Hamilton at Hillcrest Physiotherapy Clinic.
